Not that you'd know it was summer here from the weather but nevermind. 4 things completed this quarter, which is better than last quarter but still pretty poor. However, on the plus side, lots of progress made on some of the bigger challenges. Two of this months finished items were accumulated efforts, and I've done quite a lot towards finishing some others. I went to 10 gigs, I've made small dents in several of my reading and watching targets, and I walked over 200 miles. (I'm in Moria right now - pre-Balrog - and only about 90 miles short of Lothlorien which was my first walking resolution for this year.) It feels like small victories should rightfully be the theme of this quarter.

Well slightly over the year in, because I started updating my list and then my laptop had to go to the computer hospital and I only got it back the other day by which I had managed to score another couple of things off my list and miss the anniversary. Oh well. My rate of completion has seriously slowed down, though I have been making good progress on some of the bigger projects, I've still only finished another 3 things since I last posted. 1 a month is better than nothing, but still nowhere near the 3 a month I need to be doing in order to stay on track to get through everything. (Though realistically all three of the things I was able to cross off were achieved between the end of February and the end of March so...Motivated by me going 'arrrgh I've done no things this quarter'...)

I've managed to make decent progress on my various ongoing projects and even managed to get another 5 things completed! (Just under two things a month! Still need to up the rate of completion though...I'm doing better than the last list but not by much.) I finally made it to Orkney after my previous delay...only a day trip to Stromness but better than nothing.

Not that it actually feels like autumn here, we're having unseasonably nice weather, which is lovely but disconcerting.

Anyone who read my last post might notice that on my list then I was booked to go to Orkney but that that isn't on my completed list. That's because it had to be rescheduled as the week before I was due to go I was offered a new job and ended up moving to a new city instead. Which has lead to me knocking quite a few other things off my list that I wouldn't have managed at this stage otherwise. I'm only managing to actually finish about one thing a month at the moment (I really need to be doing 3 things a month to stay on target, but I do have lots of things on the go so hopefully I'll at least do better with this list than I did with the last one.
I still haven't quite got 101 things on the list yet, though we're now up to 99...

Somehow my last post got post-dated to the start of December this year...weird.

Anyways, I started a new list back in March and never posted about it. Seeing that it is now 3 months since then (roughly) and time for a quarterly update I figured now was as good a time as any to post about it. I've tried to put a lot more achievable things on my list this time round. Less big life goals more everydays stuff that I mean to do and never get round to. Projects that I've started and not yet finished that will make me feel happier for having done them. I've not completed many so far (ideally I need to do roughly three things a month to have it finished on time) but I have started on a lot of things. Last time the ones where I could need to do x of y things and could make a list and score them off, were the ones that got done most successfully so I've got a lot more of those this time round. I figure the more things I start early the more time I have to do them therefore the less likely I am to be a month from the deadline going 'argh' and not physically having enough time to do them.

the whole list - not yet 101 things, 97 things so far )

So I reached the end of my 1001 days and I completed just over a third of my list. I'm not sure what the things I completed and the things I didn't complete tell me. A lot of the things on my list were more life goals so I'm trying to make my new list more short-term attainable things. Having them on the list certainly got me to do a lot of things I wouldn't have got round to doing otherwise (going to the aquarium/the fairground/iceskating, seeing stand-up/a play/the opera/ballet) but had wanted to for ages. More than anything it really just shows how much my life has been on hold for the last 3 years and how that needs to change. Which I suppose is as much a resolution as anything else I put on the new list.

Things going not so well (2)
I keep having to restart the exercise goals – but then restarting isn’t so bad – at least I’m trying to meet the goals – which is far better than not exercising at all.
No change here - See a lunar eclipse (dates available here http://www.moongiant.com/Lunar_Eclipse_Calendar.php¬ next opportunity in Europe Oct 18th, 2013) – I’m beginning to think this was a bad move as a goal – so far there have been two opportunities to see a lunar eclipse of some form in Europe – on the first we had dense low cloud and on the second we had thick fog. If I don’t get to see the one on Oct 18th, there are no more in Europe during my 1001 days. It also worries me somewhat with regard to the seeing a solar eclipse as there is only one opportunity in the whole time to do so. The odds are not good in favor of these two goals.

I try and do this quarterly, but completely failed to post at the end of March and then kept putting it off. But I've actually been really productive towards it in the last month (4 things ticked off!) and have another couple of things set up for the end of the month, so I thought instead of waiting until the end of the month I'd do it now and then the things from later this month will give me a good start to the next quarter. Also I ticked something off this evening and so that I was at 25% which I felt was worth celebrating. I still want to achieve at least two things a month, but my current average of one a month is an improvement on last year already.

Posting this, I realised that I did very little towards my list this quarter. I made progress on quite a few things but really all things considered these last three months haven't been all that successful for it... Given that I planned to knock 2 things off my list each month this year (24 things) and I've done 6 things...that gives me what 7 days to do 18 things...ummm...
